Environment Young Storytellers TC
Rome, Italy | 20 - 27 May 2024
Due to my involvement with startups and innovation, I am aware of the significant benefits of storytelling. Learning how to communicate what you want to say effectively is crucial on our day-to-day relations with people. Through the training course Environment Young Storytellers, I had the opportunity to dive into digital storytelling, specifically in the context of sustainability and protecting our world during the crisis of climate change.
The project initiated with us connecting back to nature and rethinking a vibrant experience when we felt most connected to the environment. The next days we turned from writing to recording videos and conducting interviews on camera. Throughout the days we utilized StoryAp, where we uploaded and published our stories. A highlight of the experience was on the 3rd day when we had the chance to meet some local environmental activists. My group interviewed Marte and Simone from the international movement of Extinction Rebellion which is fighting for providing a better life for the future 7 generations.
The interviews were fun but I came to the conclusion that editing the videos afterward isn’t for me! Nevertheless, I gained some valuable knowledge about how to use the DaVinci Resolve editing software. On the last day, we hosted a small event gathering local people from the community, primarily older ones who didn’t have experience with storytelling and digital tools. We presented to them the interview - videos that we had created during the project and we were pleased to notice how happy they were with our work!
